Michael Shuman on local investments
On Friday 20 April 2012, Hartwick College hosted author Michael Shuman for the 2012 Dr. Arthur E. Rasmussen H ’95 President’s Lecture. From the official announcement, or see poster below:
Shuman will show investors, including the nearly 99% who are “unaccredited,” how to put their money into building local businesses and resilient regional economies-and profit in the process. He will demystify the growing realm of local investment choices-from institutional lending to investment clubs and networks, local investment funds, community ownership, direct public offerings, local stock exchanges, crowdfunding, and more. He also will suggest how New Yorkers can seize lucrative opportunities to invest locally in their homes, energy efficiency, and themselves.
Shuman’s lecture was followed on Saturday by an all day conference on Rural Solutions: Economic Development on a Human Scale.
